The national curriculum in the UK is constructed in five key stages. Key Stage 1 is the first stage of primary education for pupils aged 5 to 7 in England. Academic subjects in this stage include English, Mathematics, Science, Design and Technology, History, Geography, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Computing, as well as Ancient and Modern Foreign Languages.
Pupils in England will take national tests in May when they reach the end of Year 2. These tests cover the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. The English assessment includes reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling.
Our intensive courses cover core Key Stage 1 content. These courses are led by our professional tutors who not only have extensive expertise in tutoring pupils aged 5 – 7 online, but also are expert at stimulating students’ curiosity about learning.
7+ or 8+ assessment is a highly competitive selection exam used by an increasing number of prestigious prep schools in the UK. This entrance assessment is taken when a child is in Year 2 or Year 3. Apart from English and Mathematics, many top schools add Verbal Reasoning Skills and Non-Verbal Reasoning Skills to their entrance tests. Pupils will be invited for an interview if they do well in their written exams.
7+ or 8+ entrance assessment is probably one of the first formal exams your child is going to take. These tests are very challenging for students even if they are academically more able. Pupils are advised to have some one-to-one lessons in order to improve their exam technique and familiarise themselves with a variety of question types.
