Prep Schools curriculumUK Prep schools are free to teach their own curriculum. Apart from following national curriculum, prep schools will offer a broad a balanced range of subjects. Compared to state primary schools, Prep schools generally devote double the amount of curriculum time to music and modern foreign languages and offer phenomenally more sport and drama. core subjects English, Maths, Science foundation subjects History, Geography, Art and Design, Foreign Language, Computing, Design and Technology, Music and Physical Education GCSE curriculumStudents at senior school study a broad range of compulsory subjects until the end of Year 9. In Years 10 and 11 students take GCSE or IGCSE courses, with different exam boards. Maths, English and Science are the core subjects everyone must take at GCSE in England. Science may be split into the three separate sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) or into two combined Science GCSEs. Students will have the option to choose: A modern foreign language. A humanity subject like History, Geography, or Religious Studies. An arts subject like Music, Drama, Art and Design or Media Studies. A technical subject such as Design and Technology, Food Technology or Computer Science. All students have to do PE in years 10 and 11, but can also take it as a GCSE option. A Level curriculumThe most common sixth form curriculum in UK private schools is the A-Level, which is commonly taken over two years (Year 12 and Year 13).
